Role:
Longwoods International has an opening for a Senior Research Analyst to join its collaborative team. This is a unique opportunity to work with the Longwoods and Clarity teams and help design research and data-driven solutions that allow destinations to evaluate the alignment of resident and visitor needs, as well as their community’s capacity to grow their visitor economies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping clients make informed decisions around placemaking and developing their destination for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of research studies and solutions to optimize the positive impacts of tourism
- Support the team with survey development, data analysis, and reporting
- Develop actionable insights and recommendations for clients and industry partners
- Engage and support the team in the execution, management, and delivery of projects
- Attend staff and project meetings
- Occasional travel may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Experience:
Ideal candidates will have:
- A minimum of three years of applied experience (which may include graduate study fieldwork) in tourism, community/economic development, or other related fields;
- Demonstrated ability to approach problem-solving and independent research from a holistic perspective;
- Exceptional writing skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights; and
- Demonstrated understanding of research design, statistical knowledge (including advanced analyses), and data visualization.
Additional skills required:
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with remote teams
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization programs, such as Displayr
- Familiarity with project management tools/protocols, such as Wrike
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in tourism, community/economic development, or a related field is required. Graduate-level degree is highly preferred.
