Pure Michigan campaign saved by lawmakers

Lansing, Mich. (WZZM) The Pure Michigan ad campaign will continue after state lawmakers approved money overnight for winter and spring advertising.
The State House approved a bill early this morning that will free up an additional $10-million for the campaign. The money will come from the state's 21st century jobs fund.

Michigan tourism leaders said without the money they would have been forced to cancel the campaign.

Dave Lorenz from Travel Michigan stopped by WZZM 13's Information Center to talk about how his office will spend the money, "We'll use roughly about $1.5-million in Michigan and in communities like Chicago, Indianapolis, Cleveland that are in the surrounding states."

The Legislature technically has sessions scheduled for Dec. 15 but no other voting is expected.
