American Travel Sentiment Study – Wave 92

Share

According to the latest Longwoods International tracking study of American travelers, 41% of them are likely to take an international trip in 2025.  And 46% of those planning international travel say those trips will not reduce the number or shorten the length or spending on their domestic U.S. travel this year.

“The volume of international trips planned by American travelers in 2025 is indicative of the consumer confidence and spending power of a significant number of American consumers, as well as a strong U.S. dollar which lowers costs abroad.” said Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International.  “However, that financial strength and confidence is not universal, with factors like inflation, higher prices and personal finances still weighing on some travelers.”

While the percentage of American travelers who reported that inflation would greatly impact their upcoming travel plans declined from November to January, more than 50% of travelers say that inflation, their personal finances, travel costs and airfares will significantly impact their travel plans in the next six months.   Even with those constraints, 90% of all American travelers do have trips planned in the next six months.

The survey, supported by Miles Partnership, was fielded January 8, 2025 using a national sample randomly drawn from a consumer panel of 1,000 adults, ages 18 and over.  Quotas were used to match Census targets for age, gender, and region to make the survey representative of the U. S. population.
