American Travel Sentiment Wave 109
According to the latest Longwoods International tracking study of American travelers, 28% of them used AI to plan a trip in the past six months, up from 19% in August of 2024. Among those who used AI for trip planning, the top uses of the technology were to find attractions and activities (54%), to get inspiration for places to visit (44%) and to find dining options (42%).
“As AI is increasingly integrated into everyday life, travel planning is an ideal AI application for collecting and presenting the abundant information available about travel destinations across the country,” said Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International. “We expect the growth in AI use for travel planning to continue in the future.”
Concerns about gas prices impacting travel decisions have declined from 40% for travelers in June to 28% in the latest survey. However, it should be noted that the national average price for a gallon of unleaded fuel has risen approximately $.30 per gallon since the time of the survey.
The survey, supported by Miles Partnership, was fielded July 7-9, 2026, using a national sample randomly drawn from a consumer panel of 1,000 adults, ages 18 and over. Quotas were used to match Census targets for age, gender, and region to make the survey representative of the U.S. population.
