American Travel Sentiment Wave 108

Share

According to the latest Longwoods International tracking study of American travelers, awareness of America 250, the official celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country, is up and now stands at 75% of travelers, up from 46% in March.  Among travelers aware of America 250, a third of them plan to attend America 250 events around the country.

“America 250 is certainly on the mind of many U.S. travelers,” said Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International.  “And this enthusiastic response is despite the recent rise in gas prices and airline tickets tied to the war with Iran.”

Gas prices remain a concern for 40% of American travelers, up from 21% in March.  With the FIFA World Cup matches now underway, 18% of travelers say they are likely to attend a FIFA World Cup match in the U.S. this summer.  The matches are spread across 16 cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico through July 19th, with 78 of the 104 matches taking place in the U.S.

The survey, supported by Miles Partnership, was fielded June 2-4, 2026, using a national sample randomly drawn from a consumer panel of 1,000 adults, ages 18 and over.  Quotas were used to match Census targets for age, gender, and region to make the survey representative of the U.S. population.
