Percentage of Vaccinated Travelers Continues to Build

According to the latest Longwoods International tracking study of American travelers, the majority of American travelers have some level of vaccination with 57% now fully vaccinated, up from 24% on March 17th and 42% on April 14th, and 6% of travelers have received one of two doses.  Nine percent of American travelers intend to be vaccinated soon.  However, 19% say they have no intention of getting a vaccine, while 10% are unsure if they will or not.

“With the threat of more potent COVID-19 variants, it’s encouraging to see travelers generally embracing vaccines as a way to get back to a normal life, including travel,” said Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International.  “For the tourism industry and the entire country, the hope is that enough of the public will be vaccinated this summer to prevent any public health setbacks in the fall and winter.”

Despite labor shortages in some areas and the challenges of ramping up operations, most travelers are satisfied with the service on their recent trips, with 49% reporting service levels comparable to their pre-pandemic experiences and 27% said they experienced even better service.  However, nearly one quarter of travelers said they experienced worse service than in the past.

The survey, supported by Miles Partnership, was fielded July 7, 2021 using a national sample randomly drawn from a consumer panel of 1,000 adults, ages 18 and over.  Quotas were used to match Census targets for age, gender, and region to make the survey representative of the U. S. population.
